The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning Dr. Vitalis Emeka Obi mni, has expressed commitment to make the Performance Management System (PMS) in the Ministry more inclusive, transparent and impactful.
He made this disclosure during the inauguration of the Performance Management Day in the Ministry today. According to him, “We will work together to create a space where feedback is constructive, where every staff feels supported in their development and where achievement is recognized and celebrated”.
The PS admonished the Directors and the PMS Champions that the launch of the PMS day is not the end, but rather the beginning of a renewed effort to drive performance, enhance professionalism and efficiency in service delivery.
DR Obi thanked the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) Team and the PMS Desk in the Ministry for working tirelessly behind the scene to make the inauguration of the PMS day a reality.
Mr. Yusuf Azeez Adeleke leader of the OHCSF Team in his opening remarks noted that the Performance Management System Pillar 2 of FCSSIP25 is a strategic framework designed to measure, monitor and evaluate the performance of MDAs deliverables and individual performances.
The main objectives as stated by him are to; improve efficiency and productivity in the public service, enhance accountability and transparency in the management of public resources, align MDAs goals and objectives with national priorities and policies in addition to providing a framework for performance measurement, monitoring and evaluation.
The Director Human Resource Development Mr. Emmanuel O. Ukpai in his welcome address noted that the Performance Management System is a vital tool that enables staff perform their roles to achieve national goals of the country. He called on Management staff to align individual and organizational goals to ensure that their work contributes meaningfully to national development.
Directors in the Ministry were given training on Performance Management System after the opening ceremony.
