The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Nebeolisa Anako, has charged the newly inducted members of the Anti Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) in the Ministry to live above board and maintain a high level of integrity and transparency as they discharge their duties in the Ministry.

He gave this charge while delivering his opening address during the inauguration in the Ministry today Tuesday, 23rd July, 2024 in Abuja.

Anako tasked the inductees to adhere strictly to the provisions of the constitution while discharging their duties as he quoted several sections of the ICPC Act, 2000 during his speech.

He also said that the synergy between the Budget Ministry and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) through the ACTU would help strengthen the coordination, collaboration and provide government the opportunity to fight corruption as well as promote good governance in the country.

While speaking, the Chairman, ICPC, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu who was represented by the Head, System Study Division of the Commission, Mr. Clement Obaniyi said the establishment of ACTU would support and strengthen the work of the Organization; adding that with the inauguration, the Unit would be empowered to monitor budget implementation in the Ministry, amongst others.

He continued that the Unit was also empowered to carry out all the mandates of the ICPC except prosecution of defaulters; he therefore encouraged the management to lend their support to the Unit.

The Chairperson of the Unit who is also a Deputy Director in the Reforms Coordination unit of the Ministry, Mrs. Angela Guar, re-echoed that they were ready to discharge their responsibilities in accordance with the Anti-Corruption and Transparency ACT for the benefit of the Ministry.
