
The Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning (FMBEP), joined other Ministries Departments and Agencies in the celebration of International Civil Service Conference from 20-21 May, 2026 at the Eagle Square in Abuja.
The theme of the Conference, "Reforms, Resilience and Results Interrogated what modern governance should look like in the 21st century and how the civil service can remain relevant in a rapidly changing world.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Dr. Deborah Odoh while delivering her welcome address during the occasion, noted that the Conference provided an important platform for reflection, collaboration and the exchange of ideas on the future of public service and governance.
She expressed commitment on behalf of all the Civil Servants that they were ready to building a more citizen -centered public service while noting that the presence of international and national Civil Servants across the 36 States of the federation and FCT underscores the collective resolve to strengthen institutions and improve service delivery for sustainable national development.
Dr. Odoh served as a main speaker on Public Financial Management for a New Era of Fiscal Pressure; and a Panelist on the topics “Linking Budget, Policy, and Delivery to Better Outcomes; Performance Contracting in Zimbabwe’s Public Sector as a Deliverology Strategy: Success, Institutionalisation and Sustainability”.
The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Esther Didi Watson-Jack, informed participants that the digitalization which was the declaration for the International Civil Service week for last year has become a reality today as the 36 states of the federation have already adopted the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Process, saying the Service Wise GPT Platform has recorded over 50,000 conversations.
Delegates and representatives at the conference were drawn from the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Singapore, Indonesia, Colombia, Ghana, Zambia, Algeria, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Iran, Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
